In a significant move, the health department has closed a private hospital located in Pyawali village, Gautam Buddh Nagar, after a teenager's death during treatment. This action was taken after irregularities were discovered during an investigation.
The hospital was licensed for Ayurvedic treatment, yet it was reportedly conducting allopathic procedures. The health department has issued a notice to the hospital, demanding a response within three days.
On Friday, the Chief Medical Officer of Gautam Buddh Nagar revealed that Narendra Kumar, a resident of Pyawali village, had lodged a complaint with the health department. He stated that his nephew, Rajat Bhati, sought treatment at a private hospital on October 4.
Family members allege that a doctor administered an incorrect injection, leading to Rajat's deteriorating condition and subsequent death. The medical officer noted that Dr. Ravindra Kumar, the nodal officer, investigated the case and found enough irregularities to warrant the hospital's immediate closure on Thursday.
The hospital management has been instructed to provide an explanation within three days. If the response is deemed unsatisfactory, legal action will be pursued. Dr. Ravindra Kumar's health team, upon visiting the site, confirmed that the hospital only held a license for Ayurvedic treatment, yet possessed allopathic medications, an X-ray machine, and orthopedic equipment.
